“Solar energy for Sarajevo Film Festival screenings”

As part of the EU project for local communities, funded by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina and implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society and Help Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe BiH, a signing of a cooperation agreement with the Sarajevo Film Festival was held regarding the installation of solar panels at specific festival locations and the use of renewable energy sources, thanks to which the audience will enjoy film screenings.

The activity will contribute to the prevention of air pollution in Sarajevo and environmental protection.

Support for the project was also provided by Stefano Ellero, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, who stated: “The Delegation of the European Union is delighted to be able to use EU4ALL funds to support concrete and visible projects that contribute to the Sarajevo Net Zero Mission; as we know, zero emissions means zero pollution, which all of us living in Sarajevo want.”

Jovan Marjanović, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, expressed satisfaction that part of the cinema at this year’s edition of the festival will use solar energy: “This will contribute to reducing emissions during the festival, bring us closer to the goal of being a Net Zero festival – a festival with zero pollution, and show that large events like the Sarajevo Film Festival can be organized in an environmentally sustainable way.”

The contractor for the mentioned activity is Nexen d.o.o.
